Galatians 6:10 KJV
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
The call goes out again today, reminding us of the things that really matter. The world lays emphasis on acquisitions and possessions, and not much is said about how it is acquired. We judge men based on what we see them do or what we think they have, and not much is said about who they really are. The world celebrates wealth as something massive, and without a doubt, it is important to be able to afford the basic things of life, but they must not be at the expense of the lives that have been placed around me. God has so structured life in a way that there will always be a need to meet, a life to bless and a destiny to impact. I cannot have everything or be endowed with all I need for life and Godliness all at the same time. There are lives that will pour into me, and lives that I am expected to pour into. Iron has to sharpen iron. The gifts that God has given me are for the good of others, and the gifts that have been given to others have some benefit for me. It will therefore be selfishness for me to covet another person's gifts when I have been given mine too.
Have I discovered that which I have been given, which is for the benefit of other people? If not, what am I doing to discover that which I have and which is for the benefit of others? There will always be opportunities to be a blessing to other people. There is too much emphasis laid on money. What of a shoulder to cry on? What of a listening ear? What of the emotional support your mere presence can give to another person, more valuable at that time than money? I note that nothing is said about the other person's reaction or response. It should not matter whether the person knows or appreciates the value of what I do. I am concerned with obeying God. I must do good to all men first, but particularly to those of the household of faith, because charity has to begin at home. If I know I am a child of God, that assembly of believers has to matter. The early church understood this; it is not a wonder that the world was shaken by its witness. Same God still; same instructions; same world. The world earnestly awaits the manifestation of the sons of God. Are you one? Am I? God's time of favour is here.
