Pray!

Pray!

And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.

The old has given way to the new, and the days begin to roll by yet again. The daily challenges of life may not have changed for many, while for some others, there is a new phase of life starting. Whatever the spectrum you are on, or the peculiar circumstances you are currently going through, today's verse is a reminder of one of the most important things you can do with the life that you have been given, which is to seek the help of the One who is wiser, older, stronger and better at solving issues than you are. It has to be noted however that you can only seek the help and intervention of One whose power, might and mercy you do recognize, acknowledge and submit to.

How would I access the benefits and blessings of a master whose authority I do not accept? This is the start point for anything that will make sense. Jesus was speaking here to his disciples, teaching them how to pray. Defining who I am is critical here. Am I a disciple, or am I still giving my heart to just anything or anyone? If I will make impact, the secret is actually in the power of the secret place. There is an empowerment that cannot happen in the open because of its many distractions. I must go to the source of the power and the supply that I need for the life I have been called to, and I must be sure of the supply before I can dare to give out from what I have received. It will not be in the many words I speak, but in the personal encounter I must have with the One who supplies all I need for life and Godliness.

It is not in many words, but in the actual and public demonstration of the power of God, which will only happen when l have paid the price in the secret place. Elijah spent time in private, and it is not a wonder that his public life had the impact it did. All who desire a life that will please God must seek Him where and when He may be found, and that is always in the place of prayer. He loves to hear me speak to Him; he wants to show Himself strong and mighty on my behalf. He wants to change the world by first changing me from the inside, because He knows that if He owns my heart, He can impact the hearts of men and do mighty things in and through them. Does He hold your heart? God's time of favour is here.
