WAIT!

WAIIT!

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭130:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬
[5] I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

In understanding what it means to wait, one available definition says it means to 'stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or event'. As we apply this to our walk with God, it is important to consider the pressure the world and the devil want to put us under. We want it now, and we want it ready to be delivered. The human nature in us does not want to wait, or we do not want delayed gratification. This was also what led to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. This couple were told clearly what the rules were, and they had daily visitations from the God who had placed them where they were. Could they have waited just till evening for the usual visit by God, and they could again clarify? Be careful of anyone or anything that seeks to push you to act NOW, without considering the eternal consequences of that action. Be wary of anyone that seeks to convince you that now is the only time you can get that thing, and if you don't have it now, there is something missing. One lesson from the verse above is that it pays to wait, but it has to be for the right person. If man is your sole confidence, you are bound for trouble.

My whole being must wait for the Lord. I cannot afford to pay lip service to waiting, while my actions speak otherwise. My hope must be in the Word of God, because it is by the Word of God that creation is formed and also sustained. If there is change to be made, the secret lies in the changing power of the Word of God. If there is a change to be sustained also, the power lies in the unfailing Word of God. The Word of God is the person of Jesus Christ Himself, the son of God. By Him all things were made; therefore, all things made by Him must answer to Him. I can hope in His Word because I have the assurance that He can do all He has promised. There are two immutable things by which it is impossible for God to lie, and these are His Name and His Word. When I have both, I have hope. When I have none, what is the basis of the confidence I claim to have? In a world that is increasingly becoming godless, His Word is the anchor I need to face whatever comes, and overcome. Do you have His Word? God's time of favour is here.
