Focus!

Focus!

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭73:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬
My flesh and my heart faileth: But God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

The old is giving way to the new, but the new will at some point become old, and then the new will come. As long as the earth remains, there is a cycle of life that is in place, and as God has laid it out, it will contine to be so until the fullness of time. God's promise is that as long as the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, day and night will not cease. If that is true about nature, you can bet that it is true also for all of natural creation. It is pointless to pray for long life on this side of eternity if you will not find out and pursue the purpose of God for promising long life in the first place. Asaph must have also been at this point in his life as he penned down the words of this psalm. He considered what he thought was the prosperity and sound health of the wicked. It was almost as if he considered God to be a bit unfair that men who did evil were favoured by God while those who chose to fear God seemed to be live short, bitter lives.
As it was in the days of Asaph, so are they in our own time today.

Men keep aspiring to be 'successful' by any and all means, because the world has defined impact and meaning by physical things. Unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, at some point, we must depart this earthly phase and make our way to the eternal phase. No matter how well we take care of this earthly, mortal body, the effect of age and time will impact it. As I wait for the fullness of God's purpose to be revealed in me, what are my pursuits and priorities? As I seek to impact the world I have been placed in, I must be mindful that I do not have forever on this side. Time runs; the owner of life will demand an accounting from me on how I used his gifting and enablement. I must focus on God alone, to the exclusion of all other people and things. As long as that person or thing is created, it is limited in its usefulness. God is the only One who counts, because He is the only One who is eternal, and long after this flesh and body are long gone, all of life will have to face the Owner of all things. It is best to submit now willingly, than to do it out of the reality of eternal damnation. What is your choice? God's time of favour is here.
