Psalm 28:7 KJV
[7] The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
David writes the words of today's psalm, and as we know, this is a man for whom trust in God is a personal matter. Here is a man of whom God Himself testified about to be a man after His own heart. This has to be the result of daily dependence, trust and devotion to the things that really matter to the heart of God. As you read the words of the various songs in the book of Psalms, you see quite clearly why God said what He said. From my own current pursuits and priorities, can God dare to make this definitive statement about me? Does He own my heart so tightly that He is the only option I have when things go wrong? This has to be my default setting, otherwise, I will have a problem down the road. God is able and capable to provide all that I need for life and Godliness, but I have to trust Him completely. Nothing less than the whole of my heart will do.
If God is my strength and shield, it means He is the One who supplies all I need for Impact. He helps me as I live on a daily basis, making sure that my choices are empowered to glorify Him. Of course, when the desire is to glorify God, He will defend me in return. I cannot be on assignment for God and He will leave me to my own devices. I cannot speak for Him and end up in disgrace. I cannot move at His command and lives will not be greatly impacted. It is the focus of my heart that shows in the direction of my life. Let it not be that I only know the words, but I do not know the Lord. As God does His bit, I will praise Him. As He intervenes on my behalf, I will praise Him. He alone deserves all the glory, and I know that when I praise Him, He will do even more. May my life be the platform where God can be glorified. May my choices lead to His glory. God's time of favour is here.
