Exalted!

Exalted!

‭1 Chronicles 29:11 KJV‬
[11] Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

David would speak from personal experience here. He was one who had experienced God in many ways; he had seen the mercy as well as the judgment of God in different ways, and at different times in his life, as well as the lives of men around him. Saul, the king before him, was a good example of God's mercy and judgment. The experience of Uriah and Bathsheba and Solomon was also another example of God's mercy and judgment. Of the many lessons that David would have learnt, a few of them would have to be in relation to the context of the verse above. David loved the Lord so much, and this was reflected in his desire to build a befitting place for the ark of the covenant to rest.

God acknowledged the plan, but due to David's past, God would not allow him build, but the son that came from the result of his marriage to Bathsheba, was the one God chose to build the temple. Speak about mercy and forgiveness. God is able to make an eternal message out of the greatest mess. God is able to turn around the most filthy of hearts into his most treasured possession. What is critical in this discussion would be the surrender of my heart to God. There are times when my heart may seek after selfish desires and interests, but God waits for me to return to Him. His arms are always open wide, but I must also take cognizance of the fact that the invitation is not one that is endless.

There is a time and season for repentance and return, and it will be in my own best interest to seek God out while He is near. David understood this, and the words of the verse above make that clear. To God belong greatness, power, glory, victory, and majesty. The whole earth and heaven belong to Him, and He is exalted above all things. You do not get to see anyone or anything that can lay claim to the things God is or can do. He is King; the type whose kingdom has no end, and whose authority cannot be questioned, limited or denied. I can choose to submit to and acknowledge Him, or I can choose self over everything else. The choice, as always, is mine to make, but the eternal consequences always follow my choice. May God be glorified in me. May my life be a reflection of a lifetime of gratitude and appreciation for all that God is and has done. God's time of favour is here.
