Philippians 4:7 AMP
[7] And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. [John 14:27]
The world is in turmoil. In line with the word of God, these are perilous times, with wars and rumours of war, pestilence, famine and earthquakes as part of the events of these end times. The uncertainties around me could make my heart quake, but what makes the big difference is the presence of God in my heart. My heart is that battleground, where a lot of information comes in and must be processed quickly, before a decision is made. It is not a surprise, then, that God warns me to guard my heart with all diligence, because out of it flow the issues of life. I cannot afford to let just about anything or anyone make an impression on my heart. I must be careful about whatever impacts my heart.
God can only thrive in and also inspire a heart He has been given total control over. How does God keep safe anything that is not in His hands and subject to His influence and direction? How can I insist on my own way, want to do things my own way, and still wonder why things do not work out the way they should? Jesus, as the son of God, is called the Prince of Peace, and this means His Father is the King of Peace. The Holy Spirit is also promised to us as the Peace that Jesus said he would give us and leave with us as He went back to the Father. I cannot have God's version of peace outside the person and presence of the One called Peace.
God's Peace is the presence of God, which is personified by the Holy Spirit. His presence gives me calmness in the midst of the storm. The world will never be able to understand or explain it, but if I have Him, He just settles my heart. His peace is like a guard, who keeps evil thoughts of defeat away from my heart. He keeps reminding me of God's precious promises, and supplies all that I need for life and Godliness. He is all I need, because in and by Him, a great life of impact becomes possible. He is only able to keep that which is committed to Him; like Paul, the confidence comes from total submission. The world may claim independence and self-sufficiency; I rely on God totally. What of you? God's time of favour is here.
