Trust God!

Trust God!

‭Proverbs 3:5 AMPC‬
[5] Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

The verse above makes clear the opportunity cost of getting God on your side. You would have to leave one thing for the other, and in this instance, it would be confidence in your own abilities, insight or understanding. It is given that man was created and given the divine nature by God, which was disrupted when man fell into sin in the Garden of Eden. That fall of man led to a false sense of pride and self-sufficiency, with man relying on his wits, brain and brawn to get him out of situations.  Of course, it has been proven over and over again that relying on human strategy will not lead to the achievement of God's divine purpose for man.

Right at the same location of man's first sin, the solution to the problem of sin was also provided. God provided the channel of restoration whereby man could be fully restored to his original position or status. By the death and resurrection of Jesus, I now have access to all the riches and resources of citizenship of heaven. I can call God Father and lay claim to all that Jesus secured for me by the cross. However, one point has to be fully emphasized here: God will not go against the exercise of my freewill. He will not force Himself on me, and He will not drag me kicking and screaming into His will. This is something I need to do in the full knowledge and acceptance of what I am doing, what is at stake and where it will end.

That is why I cannot start well in God and end badly by moving away from God. This is where the leaning on and trusting in God are important in this conversation. That which I lean on must be trusted to support my weight or exertions. The verse above also mentions the whole of my heart and mind, and this is interesting because the heart is capable of deception. It is possible to pay lip service to dedication and commitment to God, because no one can see the heart unless God reveals its state to you. I ask God for grace for the race He has set before me. He will sustain and uphold whatever He has commissioned, and supply all that the mission needs for success. All I need to do is to completely trust Him. Would you too? God's time of favour is here.
