Luke 1:45 KJV
[45] And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
In a world that thrives on the proofs of its senses, the message in the verse above may be difficult to accept or comprehend. Here was a virgin, who had not yet known a man, hearing from an angel she had not met before, that she would experience something that had never happened before. Tell me, in an environment where it was a shame to be found pregnant without being betrothed to a man, she was going to get pregnant without any man's help. No wonder that even Joseph, the betrothed, was contemplating leaving her quietly, until he was assured by an angel that all would be well. We know now how the story ends, but at the time, Mary had no idea where this was going. All she could do was believe the words of the angel. Faith is that currency by which people get what is unusual from the Lord.
It is easy to trust God for the things that are relatable, or which you know a little expense or labour may get for you. It gets critical when it is something you know that no amount of human influence, connections, wealth or labour can get you. Faith is not tied to what is seen, but that which is unseen. If I have it, why would I still trust God for it? I trust God because I know He is the only One who can make a way where none existed before. Mary would have had a tough time accepting the message, but she got up and went to visit her aunt Elizabeth, who was also with child. Elizabeth confirmed the word of the Lord to Mary, and Mary knew that God was at work. The world places faith at the end of the spectrum, not at the front. The world does not understand the meaning of the words 'wait' or 'believe'.
It is all about what to get here and now. The Word of God places faith as critical to all that God can do for man, where it says that 'Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Neither have entered into the heart of man, The things which God hath prepared for them that love him, but God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit. The things revealed by the Spirit cannot be processed by human logic; you need the help of the Holy Spirit to decipher, decode and deliver on them. The performance can only come when faith is in place. How can God perform when He is not recognised? How can God move in a place where He has not been given free rein to do whatever pleases Him? How can anyone please God without faith? Make sure you get a sure word from God. God is bound by whatever He says, not by what I feel. Have faith in God; He cannot be found to be a liar. God's time of favour is here.
