2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
[9] But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
As always, God is faithful to His Word, nature and promises. You cannot find God to be a liar or someone who takes you up to a point and then abandons you. Like Paul who wrote the letter to the church in Corinth, there had been previous experiences of God's support and guidance. However, it must be noted that, just as God would hold his own end of the covenant, so would the devil also try and distract, striving to get my eyes off God and to the size of the obstacles in my way. God, in His wisdom, knows this, and He would always supply the grace I need for the journey He has set before me. He knows that I cannot go it alone or by sheer strength or labour;
God is aware of the schemes of the evil one, and He knows how to defeat him. In Paul's case, there had been some amazing revelations given to him. In order to keep Paul from pride, it was recorded that there was a thorn in his flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment him. Paul asked that God would take it away, but rather than get it off, God supplied even greater strength and grace to deal with the thorn as well as deliver on the assignment given. This is where God remains God; He could take it away, but how would I really know and appreciate the supply of God's grace if there were no circumstances to make them known?
God's words here are potent; my grace is all you need. It does not matter what the size of the problem is; let God deal with it. He can, if I let Him work. Paul made a decision that, as long as grace was available, he would continue to make his boast in that grace. That is making God known, celebrating the impact of His touch upon your life. Why would God not continue to supply all I need if I point men to Him? Paul's life is such an example of the impact of grace. Like Paul, grace is still very much available for me today. God has not changed, and He is still looking for lives in which He can display His power and splendour. Would you let Him? Would I? God's time of favour is here.
