Galatians 6:9 AMP
[9] Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.
The verse above reminds me to focus on my employer and rewarder. Like all verses of the Bible that provide instruction and direction, not all are not addressed to everyone, but you find some specifically directed to those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus. Paul addresses this letter to brothers and sisters, who shared the same faith as his. Before I lay claim to the blessing, have I satisfied the condition? Have I come to the saving knowledge of Jesus, or are there still areas of my life that I need to lay at His feet? It has to be said that there cannot be an expectation of righteousness from someone who has not met the God of righteousness. Have I truly met Him?
Too many times, we allow the applause or approval of the crowd, and sometimes, the noise of disapproval of the crowd, to drive our actions, responses and reactions. What this verse does is to remind me to focus on the one thing that I have the ability and power to control, which is me. I have the power of choice: to keep at doing what I know is right, or to blend in with the world and focus on doing all that the world desires. It is also clear from the verse above that earthly and eternal consequences are linked to whatever actions I take. I go in to make a decision based on the full knowledge of God's expectations for and from me.
I cannot plead ignorance, because I have access to the mind of God as revealed in His Word, and the help of the One who inspired the contents, who is the Holy Spirit. I keep working for the One I know can and will reward at the right time, and in His own way. Life will happen to all of us, and pressures will make demands from us, but we press on, because we know that God does not owe a man anything. Everything I do is a seed that will bear fruit, and the harvest is coming. It is what I expect from the harvest that will drive my season of sowing. The timing of the reward is in His hand; if I focus on doing His will. I will not miss His reward. God's time of favour is here.
