Our God!

Our God!

‭1 Samuel 2:2 KJV‬
[2] There is none holy as the LORD: For there is none beside thee: Neither is there any rock like our God.

There is something powerful about a personal encounter with God. There is nothing that can be compared with seeing God move in your life. Hannah had gone through a lot of pain; she had her womb closed by the Lord, and she had spent many years coming to the temple of the LORD in Shiloh. Her rival would mock her; her husband would give her gifts and try to appease her, but there was nothing that could fill the void she had in her heart. One thing Hannah would not do was to stop coming to the temple to worship. Even when Eli the priest would misinterprete her actions, she would go on and press her case before God, and she prayed God's mind on this matter and of course she got the son she asked for,  and an additional 3 sons and 2 daughters. You do not deal with God the right way, and lose.

The verse above is the song of Hannah after God had opened her womb and allowed her to conceive and bear Samuel. It is instructive to note that the first attribute of God that  Hannah emphasized is His holiness. Whoever will deal with God the right way must make the approach the right way. Holiness is God's nature, as well as His demand from all who seek to follow and serve Him. This is not a God one can bend to suit your own desires. His love will take me from the deepest darkness and set me in His light, but I have to make a full and total surrender to Him. I cannot remain in charge of my life, and still expect Him to back up my actions that do not align with His will. He is Holy, and He also gives grace for all who seek Him to walk in holiness. He will not demand from me that which He has not supplied grace and strength for.

He is also a God who cannot be compared with any other God. He is the Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient God. He is not like man, even though man is the chief of His creation. He is presented here as a Rock: very reliable and dependable, and can be trusted in the midst of depression, oppression or any kind of pressure. Long after this world has ceased to exist, and a new heaven and earth are in place, God continues to be God. I also note that Hannah presents God as 'our God'. Do you know this version of God that Hannah presents here, or are you holding on to a version of God that suits your old lifestyle? Does the God you know demand holiness and righteousness from you, or does the god you hold on to permit you to live as you please, in sin? If who you know is not the Holy God, you have time today to seek God out. He waits for you and I, and like Hannah, He wants to show Himself strong in your life.  Would you let Him? God's time of favour is here.
