Glory, Glory!

Glory, Glory!

shouting, “Blessed (celebrated, praised) is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory (majesty, splendor) in the highest [heaven]!” LUKE 19:38 AMP

Palm Sunday speaks on the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and starts off the week of his death and resurrection. I am reminded of the incidents that occured at the time, and how people celebrated Jesus. It was so different from what had always happened; with people not sure how to treat Him, and with the religious leaders totally ignorant about who He was and His mission. Today's extract is therefore something of a suprise.

In that encounter are various classes of people; you find the praise singers, those who only pay lip service to what they say and do not have any connection with the object of the praise. They are only in it for the gain. You also find the crowd followers, emotional people; those who were there because at that time, it was the most popular place to be. You had to have a story to tell your children that when Jesus came into Jerusalem, you were there. And you find the spectators; who lived around these events and would only pass an occasional glance at the crowd and wonder why people were just wasting their time.

You will also find the true disciple; who understood the meaning of the event they were witnessing. All of them stood and shouted: "Hossana, Hossana", but as you know, a week later, the various categories of people manifested. Where do you fall this Easter season? Spectator, praise singer or a crowd follower, or a true disciple? Remember, you deal with a God of absolute knowledge, who cannot be decieved by the deceit a human heart is capable of. What would you offer Him this Easter season? His time of favour is here.
