Worthy!

Worthy!

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11 KJV

An amazing insight into heaven and what goes on there was given to a mortal man, John. He received a revelation of heaven and the events that go on there, as well as the things that are yet to happen. Why would God give a mortal man a view of heaven? I believe there are several reasons but only a few will suffice here. First, we get insight into who this God really is. The verses before this one describe something so pure and good that you know you are in the presence of a Great and Awesome God. His appearance, throne, environment and all those who wait on Him and tremble in His presence all point to one fact: this is a God not to be toyed with: great, yet gentle; awesome, yet approachable.

Secondly, if all of heaven are unified in doing just one thing, which they have been doing since recorded history and which they will continue to do, it means all of heaven cannot be wrong. All of heaven testifies about the nature and the acts of God, and why He deserves all the glory. There is something fundamental about me here: in the midst of all that's said, I realise I was made for God's pleasure. If all of heaven knows this, do I? Do I need to be reminded of who I am or who I belong to?

Do not forget: God isn't God because I say so, and He will be glorified one way or another, either with or without me. He calls me to His presence, gives me an insight into who He is and what He has done, so that I can willingly serve Him. He's done His bit; what's my response? His time of favour is here.
