Hear!

Hear!

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: Deuteronomy 6:4 KJV

Hear: the presence of ears is not an assumption about the ability to hear what is being said. It is even one thing to hear and it is a completely different matter to perceive and understand what has been said. We cannot equate hearing with understanding, but understanding starts with how you hear. When God speaks, what do you hear: do you hear God speak or do you hear men's grammar, diction and charisma? What moves you: construction or conviction? The depth and spread of your impact on earth will be driven by the impact and imprint of God's Word upon the canvas of your heart. Be careful of what and how you hear.

O Israel: instructions for specific people at the time it was spoken. There are also instructions for us too in this present times; we live in perilous times. These were God's people, chosen by Him and set apart for exploits. All who claim to know Christ are called into a special relationship with Him. You answer now to a different master, and now have different priorities. Do you even know who you have been called to believe in? Isn't it odd that Israel is being told again, that the Lord who they have come to know through Moses is one Lord. Did they need to be reminded? Do you need to be reminded again of the One you have believed? Has anything changed?

One Lord: this is the mystery about God. In walking with God, you cannot make assumptions. You do not become comfortable in your knowledge about God, thinking you now know all there is to know about Him. He is the Lord God Almighty; He is our God, He is also the Trinity: 3 in 1 God; the One who owns generations and works in different dispensations as the same God. He is the One who calls out to us, no matter the complications or complexities of our life's seasons and asks us to give him all we are. He is the ssme across all seasons; His standards do not change at all.

Have I truly met this God introduced here? Have I had a genuine encounter with Him? Does He know me as His own? God speaks, all confusion is cleared. He tells me who He is and what I stand to gain from a close walk with Him. The choice is always mine to make, and eternal consequences always follow whatever choice I make. His time of favour is here.
