And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Isaiah 60:3 KJV
I relate today's extract to the teaching of Jesus at the start of his earthly ministry, when he uttered those immortal words: 'You are the light of the world'. For all who bear allegiance to the One and Only True God, there is a nature and attribute that we possess, and it is the Light. You cannot have God and be or walk in darkness. You cannot know God and still love darkness and sin. You have become God's spectacle to the world and all you do and say must reflect these new realities.
Those who are outside the light must see the remarkable difference. It is that unique quality that sets you apart, and it is the point of attraction of all men. Do I reflect the right kind of light? I need not worry about how the attraction will happen; all that God asks me to do is to Arise and shine. I cannot explain the light but my life will show it and men will come to it. Am I prepared for the scrutiny and attention? Am I seeking to live right so I can be all that God intends?
What do kings really want? They already have a throne, a territory, assets and subjects. The one thing that looks likely here is more grounds to conquer. The joy of new lands and territories gives them the push to pursue. The light becomes a new discovery for kings, and it is a kingdom too, one ruled by the King of kings and where even earthly kings are subjects. It does not matter what your present state is: all I am asked to do is to shine the Light. Men will come; kings will come; the attraction of light is such that cannot be ignored.
Am I truly shining as expected by God? Can God count on me to reflect His power, glory and grace? His time of favour is here.
