Patience!

Patience!

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.  For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Hebrews 10:35‭-‬36 KJV

Everything commanded or ordained by God attracts blessings only if I obey. Confidence here is seen as attracting reward. It is not just mere confidence, the sort that puffs its chest at danger or the one borne out of a healthy bank account or high fences. It is  confidence in the right person. It is not a fixation on what I can get, but on who God is. For God to warn here, it means that there is a clear and present danger that if I do not watch my life and conduct, I could lose the reward that goes with faithful and consistent service to God.

Confidence in God shows that I know and trust Him to work out His purpose in my life. It means that no matter what comes or happens to me, the foundation of my faith remains unshaken. Trials will come; storms will rise; winds will blow; but there is an assurance of standing firm if the foundation is on God. The responsibility of keeping the confidence is on me; it is my duty to watch out for anything that will threaten the peace of my heart and guard against it. How would I have confidence in a God I do not take time out to know and relate with on a regular basis?

Lie it has been said, the reward from God is not tied to mere activity, but to doing the will of God. You can be quite busy, yet God is wondering who has commissioned the assignment you are presently engaged in. You have got to audit your present and future pursuits and priorities, and be sure that they align with what God has directed. The will of God is what attracts reward; not my own pleasure. And the reward is coming; the world as we know it will soon dissolve by fire and all men will be judged on the basis of their relationship with God. How's yours? How's mine? His time of favour is here.
