Located Right!

Located Right!

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1 KJV

There are a few fundamental truths laid out in today's extract that bear emphasis. First, for all of us alive, there are 2 laws at work in our lives: the law of sin and death, and the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. All human beings, born of women, are subject to the law of sin and death. Due to the nature of sin we were born with, God already laid down the consequences of the breach of that law as death. Adam and Eve, the first beings on earth were the first recipients of that punishment, and it has stayed with us till today.

There is a second law also at work, and it is the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. It is the exact opposite of the law of sin and death. The law of sin required us to comply with God's strict righteous requirements, but it could not provide us with the required grace to enable us comply. In fact, the law of sin placed on us an onerous burden by saying that once you failed in one, you had failed in all. How would any man be able to comply with God's righteous laws without help? This is the whole essence and purpose behind this second law.

And the highlights of this second law is the grace and mercy available in abundant measures. I have a fresh and regular supply of them to enable me comply with God's righteous requirements. I do not need to depend on any moral code, or rely on human strength to enable me comply; now, I had Jesus helping me to live right.

And it is quite important to emphasize my location and placement, if I will enjoy the benefits of the law of the Spirit. There is no condemnation for all who are IN Christ Jesus, not all who know about or follow Him or enjoy what he says. I can live around Him, read about Him or enjoy the stories about Him, yet what will work at the end of my life is to be In Him When He returns for me.

Sin brings condemnation; Jesus gives grace and mercy. Where am I walking at the moment? Where am I located? What are my present pursuits and priorities? These are questions with eternal consequences, which I will do well to answer down here before I have to answer them again before the judgment seat of God. His time of favour is here.
