Malachi 3:16-17 NIV:
Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.
In this season of stress and difficulties, it becomes important that we examine our ways, intentions and motives. There is a constant need for self-examination and appraisal. We need to constantly ask ourselves if we are living right or allowing the world's standards be the judge.
Today's passage highlights the need for us to be different. No matter the pressures and the compromises going on around us, God expects our hearts to be fully committed to him and dependent on him. God demands from us true, undivided and undistracted devotion. We get distracted easily, we forget that God understands all the tiny details of our lives, we try to do things in our strength and wisdom and try to make things happen by our power. But in the final analysis, it is what God does that remains forever. It is the person who God upholds that is free from destruction.
Check your support system: are you being upheld by a complex structure of human connections, political clout, or abundant possessions or are you totally dependent on the God who never forgets those who trust him and who will show himself strong in their lives, even as they trust him completely. God does not forget all we do for him. He knows all things and it is He who will do the uplifting, the blessing and the sparing on His own terms. Rejoice, for his time of favour is here.
