Justice Served!

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. ISAIAH 53:5 AMP

We serve a God of justice. This justice is not the kind the world dispenses: with favoritism and hypocrisy attached. God is a just God, who  established the consequences of our actions long before we were born. The consequences of all sin is death, and has been so since the days of the garden of Eden.

Sin came, man fell, God stepped in. Could God have broken his Word, and allowed man a free passage into life, without bearing the consequences of his actions? Would his love overlook offence of sin just like that? Would the same God we call just show favoritism to some people and gloss over their sin, while he would still punish others for the same sins?

A price must always be paid for sin. In fact, blood had to be shed for the remission of sin. The one who sinned had to die, the God who is just had to exact the just punishment. In steps the perfect sacrifice, the universal leveller for all men. Where we were supposed to be punished for our sins, Jesus stepped in and was beaten because of us. Where we were to be lined up and flogged, Jesus took those stripes. Where we were to be crushed, he took our place, so we could walk away 'free' from punishment. He was discomfited, so we could be comfortable.

The cross seals our eternal blessing. Every benefit and grace we receive flows from the cross. It is God's way of reconciling man back to himself, and the offer stands for as long as I am alive. Do not ever think that this sacrifice is for nothing. If God could give up his son, and then abandon him when be bore the sins of the world, two things are clear: God takes sin very seriously to have paid such a high price for it, and he takes his love very seriously, to have given up his precious son for our sake.

The warning: the price is paid, redemption and salvation assured. Eternity has been offered, and will not be available anywhere outside the one God has chosen. He has sealed the way back to God, and he stands at the door of our hearts, knocking. Will you let him in? His time of favour is here.
