Power of Focus!

My eyes are continually toward the Lord , For He will bring my feet out of the net.
PSALM 25:15 AMP

How's your focus? Better still, what is your focus? If I critically examine my life, in the light of the truth of God's word, not the deception of the world's standards, I think I will be able to answer that question. Do you know why it is important to honestly answer? It is because what you get, how you live and the priorities you pursue are all tied to your focus.

Everywhere you turn, there are distractions. There are people - your mates - who are doing better than you and your heart wants to tell you that maybe you are not doing enough. There are circumstances that will test your resolve and push you into compromise. There are tests whose sole purpose is to push you off the cliff into the abyss of depression and fear. The only cure is the solution of the right focus.

Today's extract provides the answer: the psalmist says "my eyes are continually toward the Lord". It was not a one off exercise, or something done only at intervals or as the occasion demanded; it was a continuous exercise. You don't take God as a spare tyre, used only in emergencies. You don't  take God as a back up generator, used only when the  main source has failed. When you sort out your focus, you sort out your help, support and deliverance.

Recall Peter, the only man also reputed to have walked on water. He was impetuous, but he knew the power of Christ. He asked for and got permission from the  only one who could give it, and he came walking. The waves were all there, the wind was all there, yet he walked. He could have walked all the way, but like all of us, we sometimes take our  eyes off the might of the God who empowers our faith, to the might of the winds and waves around us, which cripple our faith.

Yes, there are snares all around. There are nets set to catch us or trip us up. But there is a God who is always there to help and uphold. He is the one who can guide our steps aright. Nothing catches him by surprise, and when you are in him, all that comes to you have been processed by him, not to harm you, but to build you up. Walk with and work for him, for his time of favour is here.
