PSA 119:1-2 NIV
Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord . Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart
We love to claim the blessings but we don't do much about the conditions for the blessings. We know all the verses in the Scriptures that talk about what God can give you, but we don't do much about the verses that talk about our responsibility. We love convenient Christianity- the type where you always get something for whatever you put in- but truthfully, our faith won't make much sense if it had to flow along these selfish lines.
Today's extract seeks to put our walk with God into proper perspective. God is always looking for people he can bless but the problem is with us. There's nothing God will do with the blessings if nobody claims them, and there is nothing to prove that God is stingy. Why, then, does it appear as if God doesn't want to bless us? What I have learnt is that all of his blessings have situational and circumstantial conditions for them to be fulfilled in our lives. You cannot expect that God will bless you while you are involved in adultery or fornication, neither will you steal from your place of work and expect that God will truly favour you. There is a minimum standard that God demands from his children. Every other person around you may be doing something, it doesn't make it right. God is the determinant of what is right and he has made his will and desires known through his word. There are no excuses and no plea of ignorance.
To be truly blessed, you must walk according to his law, not as you please. You must follow him with ALL your heart, Not part of it. Half-hearted devotion to God is as bad as outright rebellion to God, because God cannot trust that you will stand for him when troubles come. I pray that God will find me worthy to entrust me with his immense blessings. May my life be one that will attract his awesome power. His time of favour is here.
