1TH 5:16-18 NIV
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
If there's a challenge we face in the world today, it is how to keep a good heart in the midst of the dirt and evil around us. In these days of economic recession, financial meltdowns and political turmoil, how do we keep ourselves fresh? How do we maintain the right attitude when everything seems to be going wrong around us?
The answers to these issues have been given to us: we must work on our hearts to have and see the right things. We must condition our hearts to see how God sees, think as God thinks and do what God expects. We are to rejoice always and pray always, not because we will always have cost days, but that we can see what God wants us to see in those situations He allows to come our way. What else can teach us the fruits of patience, perseverance and self-control more than the trials God brings our way? How else do we appreciate the joy God gives if sorrow does not threaten? How do we value the privilege of being able to talk to God if we do not have any need of him?
We are encouraged to give thanks in ALL circumstances because whatever God allows has a lesson it must teach and a season it must manifest. It cannot last forever because God alone is the One who lasts forever. Everything else comes to pass and as it comes, we must take the lessons, apply them with joy to our lives, learn the points to note and move on with joy to the next one. His will for us is always perfect and purposeful, because He has no room for wastages. If He allows it, it is because there's a lesson to it. Learn, Live, Laugh and Leave in the right seasons. His time of favour is here.
