The Right Confession

1JN 1:8-9 NIV

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Today's extract wasn't written for people outside the church. It was written for the benefit of people like you and I, who have come to understand our origins and know where we are coming from. It was written for our benefit so we could relate with our past and appreciate God for the sacrifices He made to bring us into this new place where we are now.

We were born into sin, that is an incontrovertible fact. Adam's sin was passed down to all generations so by default, we all need help. Nobody can claim righteousness of any kind or work out salvation on his terms; you just have to come to him on his terms for his help. His help is full and free salvation to all who ask for it.

That is the issue: it looks so simple yet not too many people believe in it. If it required so much effort and resources, so many people will kill to get it, but because it looks free, it is unattractive. All God asks for is that we confess our sins and forsake them, and He will work out the rest. He's a faithful God, who can be trusted to keep his promises and who can do everything He claims He can do.

Need cleansing and a new beginnng? Confess your sins to him today. It doesn't matter how bad they are; Jesus forgave all sins When He died so you are comprehensively covered by his death and life insurance. His time of favour is here.
