1CO 1:4-5 NIV
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—
The words of Apostle Paul here is a timely reminder of who we are and what we stand to gain when we come to know the Lord. There are many issues that life will throw at you, trying to shake out the temporary and the unnecessary, while leaving only the important. As we walk with the Lord and grow in our knowledge, understanding and discernment of God and his ways, the clearer things become to us and the easier it is for us to accept his will for our lives, no matter how "inconvenient" it may look like.
Paul could testify to the grace of God because he was a living testimony of what the grace of God can do in any life. It isn't so much about who you were before or what you had done, or whether you were the best for the job or not, it was just that God's grace is the differentiating factor. We are nothing outside the grace of God and we can achieve nothing outside of his grace. No wonder Paul moved from a persecutor of the church of Christ to a propagator of the gospel of Christ. The letters he wrote and the impact he made on the churches outside the Jewish land, is a testimony to the fact that what you hold now isn't the determinant of how far you can go in life.
Whatever it is that is happening to you is preparing you for the great place that God has prepared for you. As long as you depend on God, relying on his strength and wisdom, there's no limit to what God can do with your life. He will take the ordinary life you think you have and produce extraordinary miracles through it. He will take your 'ordinary' words like Samuel and Elijah and back it up with his power, making sure that your words have the desired effect. All it takes is total dependence on the grace of God. He will work out the other details and make you his mouthpiece and his message of grace, hope and life to the world. His time of favour is here.
