Love, Right!
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1 John 4:20 KJV
Man has perfected the art of pretence, where he is able to say one thing and mean the very opposite. Everywhere you turn, you see the evidence of this double life. There are agencies that pay lip service to helping people, yet you find people there who are embezzling the funds meant to help. You find NGOs registered as help partners yet underneath, some are finding terrorism and promoting violence. We have come to a point as human beings where our words cannot be trusted.
Just as it is in the physical, so is it in the spiritual. In the face of the multitude of God's commandments, the greatest of them all is love. Love is the connecting thread that binds them all together. So when I claim to love, the evidence must be very clear and it must touch all I do. Love for God and love for his creation go together. I could pretend to be so spiritual that I practically live in church, spending myself for the sake of the church, yet be so bitter against the people in church.
It is the usual way these days: we offer our gifts and talents to God, yet we keep our hearts away from Him. We claim we love God by being busy at 'service', yet we cannot stand the weaknesses of other people around us. We forget that with God, service without the right heart is not acceptable. Can I claim to know God if I cannot see Him at work in and through other people he has placed around me? Can I claim to love God when I can't stand other people? If my physical relationships are a mess, how can I claim a cordial relationship with God?
If I must please God, I must work on my people skills. The test of my knowledge and personal experience of God is proven by my knowledge and personal experience of the people he has placed in my life to make an impact. What's your human relationship status? His time of favour is here
