Shine On 2
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven. MATTHEW 5:16 AMP
I have got a part to play in the divine scheme of things. I am not called to be a passive and inactive member of the family of God, but i am called to be part of a family, part of something amazing and something that would make impact in my generation. No human being was created for fun, and none was created without the grace to impact; what I do with what I am given makes the ultimate and eternal difference. That's why the verse above will start with a piece on the exercise of my own free will. I have to allow the light shine through me; God will not force it out of me.
The determination of ownership will always provide a response to the question of impact. Today's extract is addressed to people Jesus calls his disciples. If I follow Christ, my life must look like his. It may not start out that way, but it will be obvious I am being conformed to His will. If I follow Christ, my life profession and mouth confession will all align. Whether I am conscious of it or not, I carry a power that cannot be ignored. He becomes my light and power, and His grace, power and ability are made manifest in and through me. The earth is the venue of manifestation; not heaven, so whilst I am down here, i have a mandate to show off that light.
The ultimate goal of God's grace and power in and through me is that all the glory, honour and power be returned back to God. It has to be clear that men are always watching; I am a city set on a hill, visible to all. Men will see my actions and reactions, and I owe it to God to ensure that there is no hypocrisy or deceit in me. After all, the reason why I am created is to give God glory, and if my life isn't doing that, then maybe there is no point to my life then.
Is my life speaking God's grace or just emphasizing human ability? Is my life showing off God's power and might, or is the focus all about me? The answer may not be obvious to people, but when you are dealing with the creator of the human heart, you know you cannot deceive Him. He wants my heart so He can work in and through it. Would I allow Him? Would you? His time of favour is here.
