Knowing God!
The Lord is good, A strength and stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows [He recognizes, cares for, and understands fully] those who take refuge and trust in Him. NAHUM 1:7 AMP
The statement comes in again: 'The Lord is good'. That's a statement of truth, though the facts around me may say otherwise. Well, there is always a fundamental difference between facts and Truth when it comes to the things of God, so i can safely say that even when what I see, hear and feel do not look good, it does not in any way change or reduce who God is. In the face of the pervasive evil that surrounds us, you need the right mindset to see God at work, even in the midst of all the mess.
Why do I think God is good? Is it because He gives me all I need? Can I keep the same attitude when trouble comes? And they will come, because it appears this is God's way of testing and proving the quality of our convictions. Winds will blow, storms will rise and waves will beat upon the house of our lives, but how and if I stay afloat or connected to God depends on the quality of my relationship with God. He is called a strength and stronghold in the day of trouble, but he's far more than just that.
God reveals himself to all who will draw near to Him. You cannot deceive him and you can't pretend. My heart and its inner state are laid bare before Him, and he sees the inner motives and intentions. No matter what I say or do, He knows the reason behind my actions. If He is my only refuge, He knows. If I am able to combine him with other options, He knows. If he's just useful in emergencies, He knows. For all who will entrust their lives to Him, that would be the best decision you could ever make. You are only truly safe and secure in the everlasting arms of Him who calls himself Lord of all. Where are you located? His time of favour is here.
