Saved!

Saved!

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 KJV

I believe grace is one of the most upsetting and misunderstood concepts in the Bible today. We hear so much about it but it seems we do not fully grasp its scope and impact. Grace does not leave room for pride or self -sufficiency, so it is difficult to fully understand why you get what you get from God. You do not mention grace and good works in the same sentence, so you cannot also have a sense of merit or think it is by fervent labour.

Salvation is seen from the perspective of God's grace, and all He asks me to do is to accept His finished work on the cross and believe He can save me from the power of sin. It is as simple, yet complicated as that. Man wants to earn all he gets; unfortunately with God, you cannot earn his approval. His Son has opened the door of grace, and all I need do is enter in. No need for credentials or ability or capacity or capabilities or intellect; none of these things matter in this particular issue. It is a gift from God, so you do not come with money, substance or value to receive it; you simply believe.

If there was value attached to salvation and eternal life, maybe the rich of the world would have placed a high price on it, making it unaffordable for other men. It would have been privatised and sold to the highest bidder; however, God knows the heart of man and has made the heart the place of decision making. The eternal consequences of my life's decisions today have already been made clear by God; he leaves me in no doubt as to where my decisions today will end up. I owe it to my eternal destination to be sure I am in the right direction and I am pursuing that direction with the right attitude and motive.

It is not by works, so you can't earn it. It is all by faith, coupled with the free grace offered by God, that I stand where I am. Have you taken advantage of that grace? Is He your Saviour and Lord? Still struggling for identity and foundation? Go to God today; his grace is still available and effective. His time of favour is here.
