Ask!

Ask!

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13 KJV

The Context:
Jesus made it a habit to pray often; his disciples saw the evidence and wanted the same power. Jesus gave them a model of prayer, laying out the basis of prayer as a relationship first and foremost. We pray to God as a Father, and he answers us as one. All He gives us come from His heart of love and compassiona, and all He has asked me to do is ASK. He demands nothing more or less, and there is a standing promise that as long as I am His child, whatever it is I ask for, I will receive. It does not get any better than this.

The Charge:
If I have God as my Father, I have access to all He has promised. The most important promise of God is Himself, represented by the Holy Spirit in me. Trust me: no matter what you have now, if you don't have the presence of God, all you have is temporal. God wants to give all of Himself; the question will be if I want to know Him well enough to appreciate what He is offering. For all of life, family and ministry, if I ever want to make impact, the presence of the Holy Spirit is not negotiable. Do I have the Holy Spirit? Do you?

The Conclusion:
Mortal man will do anything for his/her offspring. Man can kill just to make room for a child to occupy temporary seats of power. If as fallen man, we can still be this caring about our children, imagine the heart of the loving Father. All that I could ever dream of becoming or achieving is tied up in the presence of God in me. It is His inflow that defines my outflow. I must ask God, in line with His Word and Will, for the fullness of His presence. God is glorified when I represent Him well. His heart rejoices when I am a visible and audible ambassador for Christ. Does this define me at the moment? God's time of favour is here.
