Loaded!
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Psalms 68:19 KJV
Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! Psalm 68:19 AMPC
Today's extract is given in 2 versions. First, it is established where the source of all things come from. The Lord is the One who makes all things available, and He is the One to whom all praise and adoration is due. The world offers competing and differing views on who is in charge of the affairs of this present earthly phase, and I will do well to find out the truth and align my life accordingly.
Secondly, what has the Lord done that is so fundamental that the psalmist would have us carefully consider? He is presented as the One who daily loads us with blessings. It is daily and regular, because He is able to give us what we need for each day. He doesn't do stale blessings, but all He does is timely and appropriate for the season. He gives us just enough for what we need, and never too much than what we can bear. And what He gives are benefits, not detriment. He is the God of love, whose actions reverberate into eternity.
The second version speaks about the benefits we get: he bears our burdens and carries us day by day. I picture it this way: the call of God upon my life doesn't absolve me of responsibility; in fact, it makes me more aware of what God demands of me. He calls me to be His eyes, ears, lips and feet, and the burden of that call must be evident upon my life. He won't leave me to go it alone; He promises to help bear those burdens and He carries me, holds me up and supplies daily strength to enable me function in line with His will.
He is the God of my salvation. Outside of Him, there is reallly no true or lasting hope. He is the One whose arms reach from eternity to eternity, and seeks lives that He can impact and make a display of. The end of the extract asks me to pause and consider what I have read: an introduction of God, his ways, his works and his plan. You really are safe only in God. His love just won't let go unless you let go to the end. He waits on you and me, and seeks to load us up with all of Him, so we can impact the world with all of Him. Would you let him? Would I? God's time of favour is here.
