Helped!

Helped!

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, Is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 68:5 KJV

The Context and Contention:
David is credited with the words of this psalm, and as we know quite well, David's life was full of drama, and his psalms and songs would mostly reflect that drama. In the days when he needed God to save him from death, he would sing about God's protection. The same happened too when the need was provision, guidance or deliverance from death. As I take regular stock of my own life, can I say I know the value of who I am, and who I belong to? God is the One who is and can give me all that I need for life and Godliness, but I have to trust and depend on Him on a daily basis.

He is called the all-sufficient God. There is no demand on earth so complex that it can exhaust the resources of heaven. If God says He can do a thing, rest assured that He has the ability, capacity and resources to do it. That is the message in today's extract: even in the most distressing of circumstances, God comes through. Even to the people the world would generally treat poorly, or not consider important, God takes a different approach. For all who can trust and hold on to God alone, there is help available, full and free. Can I trust God enough to fully depend on Him alone?

The Charge and Conclusion:
If God deals with the helpless this way, I must note that if I will enjoy the favour of God, I have to deal with the helpless the same way. The truth is that we all have areas where we need help, because no man is truly self-sufficient. Only God is. The fact that the needs of other people are obvious does not mean I am better off. I ask God to also help me in my areas of lack and weaknesses, and they are many.

However, I also note one final bit: the description of the God who offers help: He, as well as His habitation, is described as Holy. If you will deal with God, it has to be on His terms, not mine. I have to live up to His expectations. If He commands it, He will give grace for me to align. So, I have a description of God, as well as clarity on his expectations from me, as well as what He offers for all who will come to Him. Now, I know; you also know now; how do we respond? God's time of favour is here.
