Eternal Blessings

Psalm 103:17-18 NIV

But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord ’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

We all love good things. We crave them, we desire them, we pursue them like life itself. As Christians also, we often desire God's blessings over everything that we have and hold and we always ask God to bless the works of our hands and the fruits of our lives. What we do not ask for frequently is the grace to always obey God in everything. What we do often is to remind God of his promises everyday, while we do not take time out to ensure that we are in His will where he can bless us abundantly.

Today's extract has a promise, a premise and a pre-condition. God's promise is his eternal love and righteousness. To fully understand what God's love encapsulates, look at David- a murderer, an adulterer, yet a man after God's heart. He loved God and showed it; he did his best to glorify God in all he did, and when he did wrong, he was careful to seek forgiveness and mercy. No wonder his children enjoyed amazing mercy and had a promise of eternal kingship.  All I do today are seeds that will bear fruits that generations coming aftee me will either enjoy or suffer. It all starts with me or if before now, it had been bad fruits, the good seeds can start with me.

You want God's eternal blessings? Obey him fully. You want God to shower you with his love and favour? Love him completely by obeying him completely. You desire that generations after you will also enjoy his favour? It all starts with you and what you do today. Be careful about the seeds you sow, and the fruits will be to your benefit and the generations coming after you. His time of favour is here.
