Ephesians 6:10-11, 13 NIV
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
If there's any advice or counsel that this season requires, it is what these verses propose. If there is any danger or evil that this season portends,it is the counsel of these verses that will confront the danger. We live in a season of fear, fulsome evil and terrible events: there's murder without mercy, malice, back-biting, wickedness, covetousness, stealing and the likes. We seem to have our sense of right and wrong, as we now celebrate people with plenty of money, not caring so much how the money is gotten. We respect possessions, instead of honouring the possessor himself; we glorify created beings, instead of giving all due praise to the Creator himself. No wonder then, that our lives lack direction, meaning and purpose as there can never be peace in a life that God does not hold absolute sway.
Today's word then becomes important: no matter what's going on around you, who's living inside of you is the most important thing to watch. Every other thing can wait, the condition of your inner man cannot. The devil is busy at work, seeking lives to destroy and mislead, and it is only as we hold on to the full armour of God that we stay connected and protected. There's no other way, no other option; you cannot take part of the armor and take off the rest; you are not fully protected. It is only the full armour of God, complete in all its impact, that will stand for you when all else fails.
Are you fully protected? Are you standing in the full armour of God? Are you taking your stand on the finished work of Christ, or are you still striving to make it on your own? Remember, it is only someone who has put his total trust in God, that makes a valid claim on his protection and provision. Take your stand in God now, his time of favour is here.
