Colossians 1:27-28 KJV
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Why preach Christ? Why bother? What exactly is the reason and the push for the wave of outreaches going out daily? Why bother talking at all? I believe that the dangers of not talking far outweigh that of talking about the salvation we hold and claim.
Paul's testimony here is a pointer to the fact that one day, all we do will be judged. All decisions and actions will be audited by God and subject to the conditions he had laid down and made known through his Word. It doesn't matter what excuses we come up with; he has made known his expectations from us and we will do well to adhere. There is a hope and a glory to be revealed in us through Christ, and there's a fearful expectation of judgement for as many as would reject him. God has done his bit; he's given us a Saviour and shown us the way. What we do with him now determines what we get and where we end up eventually. Paul is teaching and warning us now to take heed to our lives now. Are you bound for heaven now or is there a need to examine your ways and life again? Is there a need to do an audit of your life now, so that God can find you worthy when he returns?
Remember, we are only here for a season; what we do here are seeds towards eternity. Sow right, reap righteousness. His time of favour is here.
