He who has ears to hear, let him hear and heed My words. MATTHEW 11:15 AMP
As always, God extends an open invitation to all men, irrespective of colour, race, creed or leaning. He created all men, and because he is a God of variety, we come from different backgrounds, yet we all answer to the one God. His power, might, wisdom and strength are beyond anything mortal man can understand, fathom or explain, yet He desires to have a relationship with us. I think this is the reason why I must sit up and listen to whatever He has to say.
Today's extract makes an assumption that all who read this or hear it said have ears and know what they are to be used for. Why would God couch the words in today's extract as they are? As long as you are human, and there are no issues with the physical ears, it is assumed you would be able to hear. However, beyond the natural tendency to hear, there is a deeper need to listen, which is the whole essence of today's extract. We all hear sounds, but interpret them differently. Is it possible that some use their ears only for ornaments, and cannot hear God at all, even if He is trying hard to get their attention?
Some may also use theirs for other purposes too, but the summary today seems to be that God wants me to hear what He says, why He says what He says, and be ready to obey what He says. What's the benefit of hearing God speak: there are so many. It doesn't always means that things will be smooth, but you will be directed right. You may look foolish to the world at the time, especially when what you said you heard goes contrary to what the world celebrates, but if you truly listen and heed, the end will always speak right. And it matters what you listen to or heed.
Not everything deserves your attention. There is too much junk out there, and you need to be selective and deliberate about the things that take and hold your attention. And on a final warning note: these same extract were the words that ended the letters to the 7 churches in Revelation: the importance and necessity of hearing right.
Eternal choices, eternal consequences. His time of favour is here.
