Free!

Free!

It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]. GALATIANS 5:1 AMP

Sin brings bondage. Ask Adam and Eve and the price they paid for one moment of forgetfulness and rebellion against God's express commands. The cure for sin was pronounced by God at the very scene of the first sin, and it is the Seed of the woman, who is Jesus Christ Himself. God puts Him out as the one through whom freedom from sin and its consequences come. All who come to Him are set free from the curse of sin and death.

It is this freedom that should be the highest pursuit of any man. It's a complete package; one that sorts out earthly impact and eternal life also. It has been secured through the death and resurrection of Jesus, but the continual hold of that grace and benefit is in my hands. I must keep this ever before me, that a high price was paid for my freedom and I must regard it as grace, not right. I must rely on the strength God gives to stand in the victory secured for me.

And the devil will not rest. I cannot assume that 'once saved, forever saved'. It will be foolish to go to sleep on the freedom I have received, and assume it can be taken for granted. God keeps fighting for souls, seeking men who will stand in the liberty His Spirit gives. On the other side of this Freedom is slavery and bondage to sin. If sin did not pay in the past, it can never pay in the present. If God could view sin as so serious that He gave a whole life to pay its price, imagine the pain in His heart if we go down the road back to sin. He has given life and offers it full and free. Would you take it? Would I? His time of favour is here.
