Hidden!
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalms 119:11 KJV
The importance of the Word is unquestioned. The Bible, which is God's Word, also says that the whole world was created by the Word of God. It is not just anyone's word; it is God's Word. It does not matter how highly placed or connected the person who is speaking is; as long as the person is not God, it can never be referred to as the Word.
The source and person of the Word is God- Do I know Him as God or as one of my many options? The world gives us options and varieties, because it needs to distract us or give us alternate versions of the genuine article. Unfortunately, if it is not the real thing, it does not matter what men say it is or what it does. At the end of the day, it will be shown for what it is: fake and temporary.
Hiding the Word shows it has value; it is treasure. You do not handle valuable things carelessly. If you truly value the Word of God, you will treasure it and treat it right. Its rightful place is in my heart first and foremost, not under my pillow or into my cup of water. The heart is the seat of all I do and eventually become. If the deposit in my heart is right, then the fruits and eventual outflow will be right.
That is the basis of the conclusion of today's extract. I do not do what I do because I want to feel important; I do it because God is glorified through my right choices and decisions. These choices will not be right if not guided by the Word of God. Ultimately, WHY I do what I do is because of my understanding of WHO God is. I know His Word so I am able to adhere to his Way and Will for my life. In the final analysis, nothing else will matter. His time of favour is here.
