Good!

Good!

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8 KJV

There is a big difference between these two words: SHOW and TELL. Today's extract makes it very clear that God leaves us in no doubt as to what He expects from us. He does not just tell us what to do; He shows it to us by example. Men of this world lay down the law just by precept alone; we expend so much energy on trying to find the right words, but our lives are a far cry from what we profess. Our lips are quick to speak, but our lives are slow in catching up to what we say. With God, you can take his Word and his acts all the way to the bank.

He tells me what is expected: to DO justly, to LOVE mercy and to WALK humbly. These are three active ingredients for a life that will please God. There is no passive behaviour when it comes to God; there is no sitting on the fence. You are either drawing closer to God everyday or simply walking away from Him. I am called to DO what is right and fair as per God's standard, not man's. I am called to LOVE mercy, and a heart that has not been conquered by God's love cannot love by God's standard. I am called to WALK in humility, knowing that all I am or have is by the grace of the God who calls men to Himself.

All of these things are visible in my life. The foundation of all these things will be a heart that has encountered God on a very personal level. So many people talk about their walk with God, but it ends in just talk. Not so many people actually walk the walk we all have been called to. As it has always been said, in the final analysis, it won't matter what I tell myself; what would matter will be how much of God I allowed to flow in and through me. This call is first personal and relational, before it can become generational. Can God count on me? Can He count on you? His time of favour is here.
