Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and he will provide for you what you desire the most. Psalms 37:4 TPT
The writer of this psalm knew what he was talking about when he penned these words; after all, he is called 'a man after God's heart'. You don't get to be called that unless you have made God your one and ultimate desire. There are always distractions around us; our hearts are so easily moved towards the appearance of 'success' by friends and foes around us, but today's extract simply says that if I am able to get my heart's focus right, then I can have all I ever desire from God.
How do I make God the utmost delight and pleasure of my life? The foundation and the process of getting there are all important. On a daily basis, as I wake up and go about my duties, what are my pursuits and priorities? Do I have those quiet moments to seek God's face about my daily life? Do I seek his opinion as a priority or as one of many options? Does His Word provide me the required guidance for daily life or are there other sources I depend on? These are questions that need to be answered if indeed I will enjoy the benefits stated at the end of the extract.
When I make God my one and only pursuit, He also gives me his special attention. When I take care of God's business, He takes care of my business also. It is my personal responsibility to make God the utmost pleasure of my life; God does not force Himself on anyone. He gives me the freewill to choose Him and He also has the freewill to bless me in line with His Word. If I will lay claim to the blessings on offer, I must be ready to align with the conditions attached. No demand on earth can exhaust the resources of heaven, so ask in line with the will of heaven, and watch heaven make your life a public testimony of grace, favour and mercy. His time of favour is here.
