One and Only!

Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. JOHN 14:6 AMP

Thomas asked a question leading to today's extract, and we all must deal with this question at some point in our lives. Thomas had heard Jesus speak about what was ahead, and he wanted to know how he could qualify for all those wonderful things. Jesus' response captures the channel, the substance and the end result of all that God holds out to me. First, he talks about the channel: no one else can give you access to God's best, except the One God Himself has laid out as His Son. Through Him, access has been given to all of us to approach God.

Secondly, the substance of all God holds for me must be my highest priority. I must search for that truth; the real deal. The world has got so many options; God only offers me one option, and for all who know God, He is predictable about one thing: no matter the generation or the dispensation, God's standards do not change. If He says something to me today, as long as I remain faithful, that Word will Work Wonders. In fact, it does not matter if I remain faithful; his Truth is not subject to my nature but to his own nature.

Lastly, He offers life, the type that the world cannot offer or guarantee. He keeps His eyes on eternity, whilst He works through and in me. It does not just end down here, but here is just a preparation for eternity. And the thread that ties them all together is Faith in Jesus. Through Him, these great promises are fulfilled. By God's standards, nothing else works now or will work in the future. God has laid it all out; and as always, the power of choice is given to me. Literally, I live or die by the quality of the decision I make before death or rapture comes. What will it be for you? His time of favour is here.
