At Work!

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6 NIV

Paul, writing here, makes a few things very clear: first, our confidence must be of God if it will stand the test of time. When God called me to Himself, He was making it clear that my life would only make sense if it was linked to Him. The world has its alternatives, and some of them are quite viable if you apply worldly wisdom and practical sense, but reasoning and common sense do not always count when you are dealing with God. 

Secondly, there is a work that God wants to fulfil in and through us. He is the One who starts a thing and has the power to complete it. Before you go beating your chest, thinking the world revolves around you, be sure that God is the inspiration behind all you do. Otherwise, you will get to the end of your journey and realise you had either pursued the right target with wrong motives, or had pursued all the wrong things from the very start. At that point, it may be too late to make amends. 

Thirdly, there is a day that is coming soon, when all flesh will stand before God to receive judgement. Believe this: none will escape. All will give account. All will receive judgement. If there is any part of God's Word you have confirmed to be true, then believe that the part about His return is also true. That day will not be about any man, our achievements or possessions, or our standing before men. It will simply be a question of what I have done to prepare for the coming of the Son of God Jesus Christ. 

Don't let the values and system of this world deceive you; the world does not have answers to your eternal reality. That is why the work in question here can only be started by God, sustained by Him and completed by Him. If you are tempted to intervene in the process and 'help' God, or allow the devil or the world tell you God is not enough, please resist that temptation. Go to God today and ask Him to perfect his work in you. He has the power; He is able and the whole earth will answer to Him at the end of this present earthly phase. How are you preparing?
