Right Pursuit!

Right Pursuit!

Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor. Proverbs 21:21 NIV

We all are always chasing after something. We were wired by God for a life of purpose and what gived purpose its peculiarity is the fact that it cannot be truly defined outside of pursuit, priorities and personal experience of God. I am yet to meet a man who made impact without effort, dedication or commitment to a course of action. I don't think God works that way.

What are your present pursuits? What are your present priorities? What holds your heart? Remember, what you consider important will be the things you spend time and resources on. The bible says it well when it says: "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also". If all that holds my heart are the stuff this world offers, then I am not headed in the right direction. All that the world offers are only good for this present earthly phase, and do no good outside of God.

If you pursue the things that God desires, you get more than you could ever imagine. The world is built around prosperity and all its trappings, and men use wealth and position to buy honour or to demand respect. Yet, God offers life, prosperity and honour to as many as would pursue after Him. What this tells me is that if I pursue God, I get all that the world seeks and kills for for free. If I pursue after the world's provisions, there is no guarantee that I will get all that I desire, because a man without God has got to fight for himself. If he cannot run faster, jump higher, fight dirtier and hustle longer than the other man, then he gets nothing. That must be a pretty difficult life.

I just have to get my priorities right. No point in spending my days seeking things without any eternal value. I must keep at the back of my mind that my present life is a preparation for eternity. If it doesn't matter down here, it really doesn't matter up there. If God counts it as very important, I must also take it as very important. If I want life, I must seek after the One called Life Himself. Nothing and no one else will count. His time of favour is here.
