Attitude!

Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve. COLOSSIANS 3:23‭-‬24 AMP

Life is always about action and activity. We find fulfilment in the things that we do or create, and it is not a wonder, because we were formed by a very creative God. We can only showcase his power in us when we work to bring out his glory and power in our lives. How do we achieve this:

1. It is not about what you do, it is about how we do it. It is a bit hard to wake up in the morning and go to the job that you hate so much. Maybe its time to stop seeing it as a job and start seeing it as a pulpit, from where you showcase God's amazing power and grace in your life. When you work from the soul, giving your best, you tell the world watching you that you are a different stock and you aspire to higher standards. It is not about an office job; it is about your platform through which God can touch the world through you.

2. Get the master-servant relationship right. Most times, we are fixated on the attitude of the boss, forgetting that the boss also has a master to answer to. It then means that I must keep my eyes fixed on pleasing the ultimate master, and the way I work must show that I serve a God who rewards men, not on the level of hypocrisy and eye-service, but with sincere devotion. The day we surrendered control to Christ, we told him that he is Lord, Master and Saviour. Our daily lives cannot deny that truth.

3. I am working for a reward. Trust me, everything in life has a consequence, good or bad. There is nothing done in secret that will not be revealed, and the motives of men are laid bare before God who sees all. Yet we pretend to work, while we are busy wasting God's precious resource - time. At the end of time, the true reward of what we did or didn't do will be delivered. If you were to be given the sincere rewards for your work today, what would it be - good or bad?

As a new working week starts, see whatever you do as stewardship for God. After all, there is nothing you hold now that you will take with you to eternity. We are only working for God, and our attitude will determine our eventual altitude. His time of favour is here.
