Power of Words!

Gracious speech is like clover honey— good taste to the soul, quick energy for the body. Proverbs 16:24 MSG

There is no doubt about the power of words. Contemporary realities keep attesting to the power inherent in both the spoken and the written word. Wars have been fought and lives wasted, simply through the wrong use of words. Lives have also been saved and great things established through the right use of words. Same content, but different outcomes.

For the natural man, it is easier to speak than to dispense grace. The natural man never sees anyone better than he is, and he is always trying to get even or to give as good as he gets. However, God calls us to a better life, one with a good grasp of what he wants and how we can do what pleases him. The key word here is 'grace'.  You can speak all you want, prove you are right or make a point, but you must do all with God's grace in full view. A man who is conscious of the grace he has received is quick to share the same grace with others. Anyone who has enjoyed God's mercy, and has received what he didn't naturally merit, will never be in a hurry to condemn others. His words, conduct and relationships will show that fact.

Words that have grace as ingredients are like honey: gives good taste to the bones and gives quick energy to the body. Nutritional facts back up these assertions about honey. Can my life be truly aligned with the attributes of honey? Do my words heal or destroy? Am I more interested in proving a point or in dispensing grace? When people sit and listen to what I have to say, do they go back with hearts that have received grace?  Remember, a life that has received grace is an ambassador of grace; I must represent the One who gave me grace, so that through my life, conduct and words, others will experience and embrace the same grace. His time of favour is here.
