The Lord is far from the wicked [and distances Himself from them], But He hears the prayer of the [consistently] righteous [that is, those with spiritual integrity and moral courage]. PROVERBS 15:29 AMP
One thing is clear: there is a big difference between God's ultimate purpose and desire when creating the earth and what we find now. There was a testimony then that at the time the earth and all its contents were created, God himself testified that it was very good. If I call God good, then all he does is coloured by his nature. Sin came in and distorted the original plan, but God, being who he is, made a plan for the restoration of his original purpose and desire for the earth.
So the battle rages on, between God's good and the devil's evil. The seat of the war is man's heart, and all you see around is the effect of sin, as well as the amazing dispensation of grace for all who will accept it. God's nature abhors sin, so anyone living in it can only access the grace of God that leads to salvation. Today's extract says that God is far from the wicked. All who live in sin are outside God, and all who reject God's mercy and grace are termed wicked. The other side of the divide is the consistently righteous, not because they know how to live right, but because they know who can help them live right and have put their absolute trust in Him. You don't become righteous by effort or labour; you can't add anything to the finished work of Christ. You can only accept it as offered, and enjoy the benefits that accrue from that relationship.
Check your residency status: are you dwelling in the camp of the righteous, people who totally depend on God for grace to walk well, or are you still fighting in your strength and wisdom, self-sustaining and self-sufficient? Your location will determine your allocation. His time of favour is here.
