Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:1 KJV
As another year rolls by, it is important to take stock of what is important, so that our hearts are not swayed by the comfortable and the usual around us. The message of the second coming of Christ has been preached all over the world, but it would appear to logical minds that this coming back is pretty delayed and may not happen. However, we deal with a God who does not deal with us on our terms or according to our own timetable. How do we deal with his Word here:
1. He has sent messengers- apart from the assignment of John the Baptist, there have been several other messengers who have declared the mind of God as it relates to the Second coming. Are we prepared or are we being deceived by the deceit of possessions, position, power or privilege?
2. His way is being prepared. Men are hearing the Truth, and are willing to accept and live by the Truth. Hearts of men are being prepared to receive the seed, and fruits are produced from those hearts.
3. The Lord will come again. If we can trust all other promises made by God in His Word, and can wait patiently for their manifestations, why would we think that he will not return, just as he has also promised?
4. He is coming back to and for his temple, that place that bears his glory and reflects his person, that place that has been kept clean and holy, that place that gives glory to Him. In case you were wondering, it is not a building, no matter how fanciful, but a person, who has accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour, and has Christ residing in Him. Are you that temple, or are you still focused on raising physical structures?
5. All words are weighed on the character, power, pedigree and quality of the One making the pronouncements. The Lord of Hosts is speaking here, the one who leads out the armies of heaven, who has never lost a battle, and who cannot be dethroned or confronted. He is from age to age, timeless and boundless. That's the God speaking. I think that is enough to help me know whom I am dealing with. What say you? His time of favour is here.
