Living Clean!

How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word. Psalm 119:9‭ MSG

Indeed, there are pressures all around us. The world and its standards keep shifting and changing, putting its inhabitants on a never ending rat race. There is a mirage of success that the world has established; a picture of prosperity that the world would want all of us to aspire to. However, for all who would aspire to God's desire and purpose for their lives, the question in today's extract is fundamental to that aspiration. The world has its standards; God also has His standard. Both will never agree, because both do not have the same foundations.

God's Word is a map for life, with answers to all of life's questions. There is practically nothing you want to know about life itself that the Word of God does not proffer a solution. However, just like a map, it is there as a guide. You cannot be forced to follow its directions; you can only choose willingly to be guided by it. It gives directions and guidance for as many as would heed and obey. If I would live a pure life, if I would have a clean life, if I will be properly guided, the Word of God is my one and only sure bet.

Therefore, if the question above is my pursuit; if living clean is my utmost desire, the answer is also provided: careful reading and obeying the Word of God. It sounds simple enough, until God's Word attacks the very foundations of the wrong beliefs I have held on to for long. I must be willing to test my beliefs and convictions on the strength of God's Word and be sure I am living right and living clean. The world cannot answer that question for me; only the Truth can. The world cannot provide guidance for my life; only the true map of God can. His time of favour is here.
