Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and the earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and Yours it is to be exalted as Head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 AMPC
Identity and Authority
Who are we talking about here? Mortal men, who have a fixed term and tenure on earth, want to play God. Man behaves as if he is immortal, and can do whatever he pleases. Man talks as if he can command tomorrow, but reality and fact has shown that man is temporal and no matter how long he lives, his appointment with physical death will be kept. This is God, the one referred to as Lord here. It is a picture of total supremacy and unquestionable authority. We see physical lords who are still betrayed, but we see a Lord here who cannot be impeached, whose kingdom knows no end, and whose authority is beyond man's control or influence.
Of course, there is just one kingdom that matters, as seen above. No mention is made of kingdoms; just one kingdom, and it is exalted over all others.
Influence and Impact
Greatness, glory, power, victory and majesty are all ascribed to this Lord. Of course, when the Lord has unquestionable authority, who dares confront him? When he works, who can stop him, when he stops, who can force him, when he stands to fight, who can confront him? Please, how do you confront a Lord who calls the entire earth just his footstool? Pray, where then can contain him, or what can limit him?
Ownership and Position
All that is in the heavens and the earth belong to this Lord. Man needs to change his thinking. We focus so much on acquisitions and possessions, forgetting that what we claim is ours is already owned, and we are only holding all in trust. We are stewards of all that we hold; God is the Ultimate Beneficial Owner of all that we could ever have or become.
Take a moment, let it all sink in. Then, rearrange your priorities about possessions, position and power. You cannot displace the Lord who owns all things; you had better learn to worship him sincerely and give him the glory, honour, adoration and praise that is due him. His time of favour is here.
