Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name. PSALM 100:4 AMP
It appears that the popular call these days is an encouragement to praise God. Times are tough, and has made people rather self-conscious and selfish most times. We now look for our own interests first of all, satisfy our own whims first of all, and consider our own needs first of all. That is the normal human reaction expected. However, today's extract wants us to do things differently, to see God from another perspective. It is a call to see life from God's point of view; to praise God irrespective of what is going on around you. If it was that easy, the command to praise God won't come with such force and power. If praise came easy for man, today's call would be the easiest command to obey.
Check out another version of the same passage: "Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him". Praise is the key to unlocking the vast treasures that God is. Don't confuse God with who He is and what he gives. It is easy to express gratitude or praise to God when He has done great things in your life, but how do you do when things are not so easy? When the horizon looks bleak and it appears God is silent, can you still praise him through the pain? When hope seems pointless, can you still praise God?
Praise is the password to God's treasures. Gratitude makes your heart free from worry or pain, allowing you see God for who he is. Focus on God and who he is opens the door for God to express what he can do in your life. When things don't go according to plan, praise God. When the pain is real, thank God. When the road is rough and uncertain, worship God. Life will not always be smooth or fair, but God will always be God and good. His time of favour is here.
